Norman River Street was changed to Henri Duhamel. I am looking for information on the hospital on Lasalle Boulevard. What I am looking for if anyone knows is where in the hospital do they keep the old medical records and birth records?

I was born in Verdun, 1953 and am doing a history of the families/area in the Beatty & Moffatt Avenue area during the 1950's and 1960's. Would love to hear from anyway familiar with families in the area during that period.

I was born in December 1946 ...at the Homeopathic hospital.

We (my mom, dad and older sister Sherrill) lived at 187 Forth avenue.... near Wellington Street.

I loved living in Verdun when I was young.
I went to Lasalle Road School when I was 5 years old.
After that I went to Woodland School, and we moved to Moffat avenue (between Verdun and Bannatyne).

After high school I went to 'Sir George" at night while working at various Montreal companies in the I/T departments. I subsequntly moved to Ottawa to work for a federal crown corporation, and retired in 2007.

I miss Verdun, and have a habit of driving there at least once a year every summer, to wander around the old haunts and schools.
I'm amazed how vibrant Verdun is. Very impressive!!

Gotta go now..... but you might see me wandering around fourth avenue, Woodland school, Verdun High,.... or just hanging out on Wellington street some summer's day hoping to see an 'long lost" friend.

To all my old friends.... I still think of you and all the good times we has back then.

"Those were the days my friends" ... and I still miss them!!

ALl the best to you, and see you in the summer (hoping!).

Hi Laura,

I grew up in Verdun in the 1960's and early 1970's, so I especially appreciated the photograph of the Natatorium where I spent my summers as a kid. It is truly a monument to art deco architecture but, unfortunately, there are few good photos of it. However, we didn't have a circus school then. If we had, I probably would have joined it! I was surprised to see you refer to the Saint Lawrence River as the Saint Laurent River, but, "bien oui", in French it would be called Le Fleuve Saint Laurent. Thanks for the effort.

Best Regards,
Deborah Rankin

Hi Laura, in doing some research on my beloved home town on Verdun, I came across your articles. Nicely written and very evocative. Have you tried a Woodland Pizza for a taste of Verdun era 70s

I lived in verdun on fifth avenue from 1944 to 1952. We then moved to Crawford park where I resided from 1952 to 1960. I married and moved to manning avenue wher we stayed until moving to the west island in 1971. I attended the model school and then Verdun High school. I had a great time growing up in what was a hard working blue collar town. I have wonderful memories and am proud of my home town roots. All the best to those who live in a great place.. I just wish the good Mr. Mackasey had left the waterfront be.
