I'd like to suggest an additional substitute for the Statue of Liberty. While doing my undergraduate degree at NYU, I had visitors each year throughout the year and we never once went to the Statue of Liberty. Instead, we took the FREE (i.e. gratis) Staten Island Ferry that travels directly past the statue. We would take turns snapping photos of one another both there and back. From Manhattan, the ferry departs at the Whitehall Terminal (South Ferry) and takes 25 minutes each way. Hey! I’d like to suggest an additional substitute for the Statue of Liberty.
